Music has always been a great passion in my life. I basically started listening and singing music right after I learned how to talk. The notes, poetic words, and the piece tell a story or a message that the writer is trying to portray. My love for music grows as I grow in age. From the oldies, to rap, to reggae, and etc., I have grown to love and appreciate music.
The man who inspired me, trained me, and showed me the way of the music world was my father. At a young age, he exposed and influenced me into the world of music. I remember when I was a kid; he would look up songs for me to sing while he played away with his guitar. When I was about five, we performed in front of hundreds of people in our local talent show. My father was an amazing guitar player. Playing guitar almost came naturally to him because he basically learned it himself. To this day, he does not know the proper etiquette and theories of music. He simply listens to a song and he would be able to play it a couple of minutes later. This skill was really amazing to me. I wanted to be able to play the guitar like how he did. The best part about the whole thing was the bonding that I felt with my father. It was a great feeling to perform with my dad.
Recently, I have found another part of music besides singing. This new found love is in the form of playing the guitar. I started playing freshman year of my high school. Sadly, we all get lazy sometimes. I was not fully committed up until the end of my junior year.
Playing the guitar and singing is a great way for me expresses myself. There is a sense of achievement when I learn a new song, or when I am able to master one. Music also makes me happy. I am able to express the emotions that I am feeling through playing music. It funny how it seems like there is always a song for your first love, your heart breaks, your friends, anger, getting money, and much more. Music is great because there is always song for different aspects and events in life. My passion for music will probably carry on throughout my life. I am who I am today because of music.
